Mitie ranks 10th on the list of Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers

Mitie has been ranked 10th in the list of Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers, marking the third year it has been recognised as one of the UK’s most inclusive employers.

The Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List recognises businesses that are working to create a truly diverse and inclusive workforce by promoting all strands of diversity, such as age, disability, gender, sexual orientation and race. The list is compiled by a panel of expert judges, following a review of the businesses’ efforts to promote inclusion across a number of areas, including recruitment and training.

Mitie has put in place a range of initiatives over the past 12 months to promote inclusion across all levels of the organisation. Starting from the very top, Mitie’s entire Executive Leadership Team has received unconscious bias training and have reverse mentors, working with members of its six diversity networks. Meanwhile, relevant reading materials and guides have been rolled out to all Mitie line managers and cascaded to colleagues on the frontline.

These efforts are underpinned by company-wide initiatives, such as launching ‘Count Me In’, Mitie’s 12-month campaign to promote conversations on inclusion, offering diversity awareness modules for all employees and organising internal events to mark important dates, including Black History Month and Pride Month. This year Mitie also launched its ‘Big Equality Summit’, an online forum chaired by Mitie’s CEO, Phil Bentley. Open to all employees, two summits have been held this year and are an opportunity to share best practice to improve inclusion and diversity, ask questions, raise concerns and input on Mitie’s plans.

Mitie recently announced that it is stepping-up its efforts to promote inclusion and diversity across the business. In its latest Social Value Report Mitie committed to increasing racial diversity and the number of women in the Group and Executive Leadership Teams by FY2024/2025. With this objective in mind, Mitie has recently formed a partnership with BAME Recruitment, a firm specialised in attracting, recruiting and retaining talent from diverse backgrounds.

Phil Bentley, Chief Executive, Mitie, said: “We’re very proud to have been named in the list of Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers for a third year, recognising our commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity across our business. This announcement is clear proof that our efforts are having a positive impact and demonstrates our commitment to being the voice of our people and be the standard bearer for the FM industry. However, there’s still much more that we can do. We’re committed to continuing this work to ensure Mitie is a company where colleagues from any walk of life can bring their true selves to work and offer every individual the opportunity to succeed.”
